There are two types of microlight: 'flex wing', based on the frame of a hang glider; or 'fixed wing', which is similar to a conventional light aircraft. They all have dual controls, so you're in safe hands at all times. You'll be impressed by the speed and manoeuvrability of this little craft, and your instructor will encourage you to have a go at the controls yourself (we don't reckon you'll need much encouragement). Once you're at a height of around 2,000ft the rope is released, the aircraft peels away and you're free to soar and circle lazily in the thermal currents.
